The Research
The Research
Four rural low-resource regions of Tanzania were surveyed to better understand the role nurses play in providing health care.
The Results
Nurses with varying levels of education, with or without any additional training, are prescribing for patients and performing minor surgical procedures, well beyond their educational preparation. All survey participants agreed that nurses should receive education that enables them to offer a wide range of primary care services.
The Conclusion
Advancing the nurses’ role is a way to improve health care outcomes in Tanzania, especially in underserved rural communities.
The education of advanced practice nurses requires well prepared nursing faculty.
Our Mission meets this goal.
